Posted by Tegan King on 14 May 2018 11:21 AM

Location: FADC, San Diego, CA 92123

Purpose: EPhost Web Administrators will be working on the EPhost Network performing a mail server upgrade.

Window Start: 5/16/2018 - 5:00pm PST
Window End: 5/16/2018 - 6:00pm PST

Service Impact: This work is not expected to be web service impacting, but will effect mail service intermittently during the allotted maintenance window. During this time sending email will be disabled. Delivery of email will be delayed and Email servers will retry sending again within the hour.

Schedule: The window for Mail Server maintenance is scheduled to begin at 5:00pm on Wednesday May 16th, and end at 6:00pm on Wednesday May 16th. Should additional time be required, notice will be provided and the work window will be expanded.

Testing & Planning: All testing and planning being conducted during this window is part of a pre-defined checklist designed by the EPhost Web Administrator team.

Regression Planning: The EPhost Web Administrator team will be on-site managing this window. As with any Mail Server maintenance, while highly unlikely, there is a possibility that something unexpected may occur during the work process. Should any issues arise, all equipment will be placed back into standard operation and the work will be postponed until the issue is resolved.

Important Information for Outlook 2016 and ActiveSync Users
Posted by Tegan King on 18 April 2018 05:00 PM

If you’re using Outlook 2016 version 16.0.8431.2079 (released on September 12th) and try to set up a new account using Exchange as an account option, you'll notice that you can't.

That's because with the September 12th update, Microsoft introduced something called "Simplified Account Creation". The purpose of this change was to make it easier for customers using their Office365 service to set up their Office365 accounts in Outlook 2016.

What it also did, however, is make it more difficult for people NOT using Office365 to set up their own email accounts when using Exchange ActiveSync. That said, they did release a registry fix to disable simplified account creation:

Backup and Update Registry to Disable Simple Account Creation in Outlook 2016

See: Instructions Here

Once the steps above are completed, you can add the EAS account without trouble. it is not a hard procedure, but you will be doing so at your own risk.

Alternatively, you might alsoAbe able to bypass Simplified Account Creation, by adding the account via the Start >> Search:  Control Panel >> Click: Mail Account (Outlook 2016) Icon >> Add new Mail Account.

We have been informed that on or around September 13, 2018, your browser will distrust all Symantec SSL certificates whether they are expired or not. EPhost will be replacing your SSL certificate with a new DigiCert SSL certificate at no charge over the next several months.

Action: We will initiate the SSL Certificate replacement, but we will need your assistance in approving the SSL Certificate using email validation as quickly as possible. You will be notified by email the morning that we have initiated the replacement process. Please look for, and promptly approve, the approval email, from DigiCert (later that day or the next). We will complete the SSL replacement and send you an email to confirm and test.

The email validation process works like this: DigiCert / EPhost will send an authorization email to the registered owners of the domains listed publicly on a WHOIS record. We can also send the authorization email to five constructed email addresses for the domain: the admin@, administrator@, webmaster@, hostmaster@, and postmaster@ accounts for each public domain. When you receive the email please promptly approve the certificate.

If we do not host your website, you will need to provide us with a CSR to replace the SSL Certificate, we will contact you if this is the case.
