Backup Disk Space:
Your backup disk space is the space consumed when we store copies of your website files on our backup servers for redundancy and protection. We have not been monitoring your backup disk space usage for some time. This was in-part due to a lack of available reporting, and the replacement of our backup server software. Now that both have been achieved we will begin monitoring the backup disk space usage and charging for over usage again starting June 1st. Most customers are under the standard allocation and will not see a change in their pricing.
Your server service includes 10GB of free backup disk space included for each server you have with us. On May 15th, we'll calculate the average of your backup disk space usage for the past 30 days and issue a supplemental invoice due on June 1st if you are over your backup disk space allotment. This process will be repeated monthly. Our current "ala cart" backup disk space pricing is $2.00 per 1 GB over your allocated 10GB or you can purchase a tiered package. Tiered pricing can be found here: http://www.ephost.com/dedicatedservers/configuration.html
Pleased note, since our backup software features a 50-70% compression ratio you are only charged for the compressed amount. E.g. 1024MB Uncompressed = Approximately 282MB Compressed. Compression varies based on the file type. You can use the backup server software from the desktop of your server to limit disk space usage as needed. The new backup software, already installed and backing up files on your server, offers excellent flexibility. It features, deleted file history (file retention) and file versioning (changed files) which can also be configured to reduce storage size.
Please contact support@ephost.com for additional instructions, or for a current reading of your usage.

Microsoft Licensing (SPLA):
Due to rising credit card processing expenses, administrative handling and changing Microsoft SPLA pricing, we will be passing through a 15% SPLA licensing price increase starting June 1st. This only applies to customers who are currently purchasing licensing through us, on a monthly basis, for products such as MS SQL Server.
Please note, this does NOT apply to you if you are using our shared MS SQL server. It only applies to customers who have purchased specific Microsoft licensing from us on a monthly basis.

Power Surcharge:
An unfortunate reality affecting all of us is that energy prices are on the rise. With these increases, San Diego Gas and Electric (SDGE) has increased our electrical rates three times in the last 12 months. These three increases were effective, 7.56% on May 1, 2008, 5.58% on September 1, 2008 and most recently a 7.75% increase effective January 1, 2009.
These San Diego Gas and Electric imposed increases represent over a 20.89% increase in our power costs and in an effort to shield our customers of these increases we have elected to absorb all of these increases over the last 12 months.
However, in order to continue to provide you, our valued customer, with the highest level of service you have come to expect, we will pass through a 5.89% surcharge on the base price of your dedicated and colocated servers, effective June 1, 2009 which will be shown as a new line item on your June invoice. Subsequent invoices the power surcharge will be included in the base price of your server. If you have pre-paid annually or paying by PO, the increase will not take effect until your next PO or annual payment.
Although we have no control over the rates that SDGE charges us, you can be assured that we are working very hard to offer outstanding solutions for your server requirements at the lowest possible competitive rates.

Bandwidth Pricing:
We have recently updated our bandwidth pricing to a tiered model and added additional discounts for purchasing quarterly or annually. While the pricing have changed, no customers will be affected as all of our dedicated server customers are currently within their allocated bandwidth. New pricing can be found here: http://www.ephost.com/dedicatedservers/configuration.html

We look forward to continuing to service your account and are available for to answer any questions you may have.
