The software's vendor, Parallels, purchased Helm a few years ago (it was already having troubles then) and discontinued work on it. Earlier this year they released a new version which we upgraded to so we could support IIS7. However, the upgrade did not go well and has made matters substantially worse. The software is heavily integrated into our environment and not easily fixed or replaced.
We had already taken some steps and replaced the control panel with WebSitePanel for new customers going forward to support Windows 2008 R2 / IIS7.5. Due to the daunting process it of migrating customers it was not possible to migrate Helm users to the new platform. This is in part due to the growing acceptance of Windows 2008 R2, IIS7.5 and the 64bit server architecture- PLUS Helm compatibility issues. Migrating customer to Windows 2008 from Windows 2003 would mean losing FrontPage, MS Access databases and ASP.NET 1.1.
Temporarily, we are asking you to submit support requests for any changes that need to be made until the situation is resolved. This may include (add, edit or delete) FTP accounts, email accounts or website settings.
We also encourage you to migrate to one of our new Windows 2008 R2 / IIS7.5 plans which uses the new control panel and it substantially better overall. It features support for .HTACCESS directives (URL rewriting, compression etc) and new IIS 7.5 features like Web Matrix. We are offering everyone who would like to self-move a 30 day credit on their account to make the move.
