We are happy to announce that your email service at EPhost now includes an internal instant messaging (IM) application. This application give you the ability to privately instant message users within your orgainization while keeping the service internal to your organization. It can be accessed through webmail directly, through downloading a desktop chat client, or even on your mobile phone.

Chat Using Mobile

Follow these steps to connect to the EPhost Instant Messaging service using IM+ on iPhone.

  1. On your iPhone, goto the App Store
  2. Search IM+ and install on your phone
  3. Once installed go into the IM+ App and Add New Account Type Jabber
  4. Enter same login and password you use for your EPhost email account.
  5. Tap Advanced and enter mail.ephost.com for the host, tap edit an account
  6. Tap Accounts
  7. Tap the Slider to On

Follow these steps to connect to the EPhost Instant Messaging service unsing IM+ on Windows Mobile.

  1. Download App for SmartPhone: http://www.shape.ag/en/products/details.php?product=im&platform=smartphone
  2. Once installed go into the IM+ App and Add New Account Type Jabber
  3. Enter same login and password you use for your EPhost email account.

 

Chat using Webmail

Follow these steps to connect to the EPhost Instant Messaging service using WebMail.

  1. Login To WebMail
  2. Click on Chat Icon on Left
  3. You can now chat with any email for that domain who is currently logged in to chat.

 

Desktop Chat Clients

Follow these steps to connect to the EPhost Instant Messaging service using Disbgy:

  1. Open Digsby.
  2. Click the Digsby menu and then click My Accounts.
  3. Click the lightbulb icon (Jabber account) to add an XMPP connection.
  4. In the Jabber ID field, enter your SmarterMail username. For example, user@example.com
  5. In the Password field, enter the password used to log in to SmarterMail.
  6. In the Resource field, enter a word that is unique for all of your other clients
  7. Click Advanced.
  8. Select the Use TLS if possible checkbox.
  9. Select the Ignore SSL warnings checkbox.
  10. Select the Allow plain text login checkbox.
  11. Click Save.

 

Follow these steps to connect to the EPhost Instant Messaging service using Adium:

  1. Open Adium.
  2. Click the File menu and click Add Accounts.
  3. Select Jabber and enter your SmarterMail username and password.
  4. Click the Personal tab.
  5. In the Alias field, enter what you want displayed as your name in chat.
  6. Click the Options tab.
  7. In the Connect Server field, enter your domain, such as example.com.
  8. In the Resource field, enter a word that is unique for all of your other clients
  9. Select the Allow plain text authentication checkbox.
  10. Click the Privacy tab.
  11. In the Encryption field, select Encrypt chats as requested.
  12. Click Done

 

Follow these steps to connect to the EPhost Instant Messaging service using Pandion:

  1. Open Pandion.
  2. Click Register a new instant messaging address.
  3. Enter your display name and click Next.
  4. In the Server Information field, enter your domain, such as example.com.
  5. Enter your SmarterMail username (i.e. jsmith) and password.
  6. Click Connection Settings.
  7. Enter the IP address of the SmarterMail server or, if records exist, you can enter the domain name (i.e., example.com).
  8. In the Resource field, enter a word that is unique for all of your other clients
  9. Select the Use TLS encryption if available checkbox.
  10. Click OK.

 

Follow these steps to connect to the EPhost Instant Messaging service using Pidgin:

  1. Open Pidgin.
  2. Click the Accounts menu and click Manage Accounts.
  3. Click Add.
  4. In the Protocol field, select XMPP.
  5. In the Username field, enter your SmarterMail username. For example, jsmith.
  6. In the Domain field, enter your domain, such as example.com.
  7. In the Resource field, enter a word that is unique for all of your other clients.
  8. In the Password field, enter the password used to log in to SmarterMail.
  9. Select the Remember password checkbox.
  10. Click the Advanced tab.
  11. In the Connection Security field, select Use encryption if available.
  12. Select the Allow plain text auth over unencrypted streams checkbox.
  13. Click Add.

 

Follow these steps to connect to the EPhost Instant Messaging service using Trillian:

  1. Open Trillian.
  2. Click the Trillian Preferences menu.
  3. Click Add a New Account and select Jabber/XMPP.
  4. Enter your SmarterMail username and password.
  5. Click Settings.
  6. Change the hostname information to reflect the IP address of the SmarterMail server or, if records exist, you can enter the domain name (i.e., example.com).
  7. Click "Override default resource name with" and enter a word that is unique for all of your other clients
  8. Click Back.
  9. Click Connect.
  10. Close the Trillian preferences window.

 

Follow these steps to connect to the EPhost Instant Messaging service using iChat:

  1. Open iChat.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Click the+ button and enter your SmarterMail username and password.
  4. Click Server Settings.
  5. Uncheck the Warn before sending password insecurely;checkbox.
  6. Select the Automatically find server and port checkbox.
  7. Click Done
  8. In the Description field, enter a word that is unique for all of your other clients
  9. Save if necessary.
