Sync Mac Calendar and Address book.

 

This article will explain how to setup and configure CalDAV and CardDAV for iCal and Address Book. These protocols can be used to synchronize contacts, calendars and notes.

 

CardDAV for Address Book

 

  1. Go to the Address Book Preferences Menu
  2. Click accounts
  3. Click + to add an account
  4. Account type is CardDAV
  5. Enter full email address (IMPORTANT: Use the format email*domain.com instead of email@domain.com) and password
  6. If a warning appears saying "AddressBook couldn't discover the account settings for the CardDAV Server"
  • Click Create
  • At this point it is necessary to edit some configuration files manually.
  • Open Finder
  • Navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Sources/
  • In this directory, there will be a folder with a long string of characters, navigate to it
  • Double click Configuration.plist
  • Change the servername field to http://yourdomain.com:80/WebDAV/ then save and close.
  • Open AddressBook
  • A new account will appear in the folder list

 

CalDAV for iCal

 

  1. Go to the iCal Preferences Menu
  2. Click Accounts
  3. Click + to add an account
  4. Account type is CalDAV
  5. Enter full e-mail address and password
  6. If a warning appears saying "No CalDAV servers were found"
  • Click Continue
  • Account Template: None
  • Ensure your full e-mail address and password is filled in
  • Enter yourdomain.com for server address
  • Enter /WebDAV/ for server path
  • Click Create
  • A new account will appear in the list
