Software Licensing Pricing Adjustments
Posted by Joe Rebis on 24 October 2017 06:22 PM

As a result of increased software costs from Microsoft and other web hosting software vendors, but also due to increased electricity costs and the increased mitigation of online threats, some new fees may apply to your account to more accurately reflect the increased expenses we have included at no-charge over the last 20 years. These fees are in-line with national and regional hosting providers.

Windows Dedicated Servers:
If you are using Microsoft Windows Server Standard as your operating system, a $25 charge (per processor, per month, per server) will now apply. Microsoft requires us to license 8 cores per physical processor even if you only have 4 cores!

All Dedicated Servers: If you have a control panel (Cpanel, Interworx or Website Panel), and are not already paying for a control panel, a $25 charge, per server, per month will now apply. This is common of managed dedicated servers and is required for dedicated server management.

To reduce or eliminate these changes:

If you have two physical processors, we can remove one CPU from your machine.  This will reduce the required licensing for Windows servers but will not re-rate your server from one class of server to another.

If you no longer need your control panel software, we can uninstall the control panel from your server. Please note, it is required by for our management service. This may not be possible or practical for some server configurations. Professional service hours may apply.

To put it simply, adjusting our rate lets us continue delivering the best possible experience we can.  The new fees will appear on your December 1st, 2017 invoice. If you have any questions, please email billing@ephost.com.
