Add a Domain Alias to an Existing Domain Print

If you already have a domain hosted with EPhost, this article details how to add a domain alias your account. Domain alias are domain names that use the same web files and email accounts as an existing domain.

Website Panel (Windows Plans)

  1. Login to your Account.
  2. Click the green "Control Panel" button which will open a new window
  3. In the control panel click "Domains" icon
  4. Click "Add New"
  5. Click "Domain"
  6. Type the domain without WWW
  7. Check the box to "Assign to existing Web Site" and select website
  8. Leave all other boxes default and Save

* It is ideal to create a 301 redirect using your .HTACCESS or web.config file to point your alias to your primary domain domain to avoid duplicate content issues with Google etc.

 

cPanel (Linux Plans)

  1. Login to your Account
  2. Click the green "Control Panel" button which will open a new window
  3. In the control panel click "Aliases" icon
  4. Type the domain without WWW
  5. Check the box to "Add Domain" to save it
  6. Once saved you can optionally "Manage Redirection" to create a 301 Redirect

* It is ideal to use a 301 redirect and point it to your main website to avoid duplicate content issues with Google etc.

 

Other Control Panel (Windows and Linux Dedicated Server Plans):

Your dedicated server control panel MAY be different than the options above. 

  1. Login to your Account
  2. Click the green "Control Panel" button which will open a new window
  3. Use the on-screen help menu to add your Domain Alias
