Statistics Filter Sets
Posted by Joe Rebis (Import) on 08 April 2008 11:54 PM

Your website statistics will help you in understanding your website visitors. Due to the variety of information available, it is sometimes useful to filter out data that is not needed. Using the EPhost Statistics service you can easily create filter sets to apply to your stock and custom reports to remove URLS and IP addresses that are not necessary to track. e.g. your own clicks!

Creating a filter set:

  1. Go to Settings > My Filter Sets and click Add Filter Set.
  2. Enter the name of the filter.
  3. Enter GUIDs, IP addresses and URLs you would like to remove/exclude form reports (one per line).
  4. Click Save.

Note that the reports will give you both the normal total and the filtered total for you to see a comparison between the two values.

You can make quick work of some items by including the GUID for filtering out a whole category of information:

Bots/Spiders: 41406E01F8614e7eB2AE456551D96204

Unknown Browsers: 32AAA9623EC348afB5AF8ECE5B7D452D

No user agent: 49DF74070B8A4afc9BDEDFF2A48E5451

No referrer: 21C077A7A4A14016825A775187E5D0D0

Lastly, you can add your Filter Set to a custom report that you created. When creating a custom report, select that filter set form the drop-down box when creating the custom report. Then you can set the "Emails Reports" to send you that custom report by email or simply view it from the Custom Reports tree item in the left hand menu.
