How long can a domain name be?
Posted by Joe Rebis (Import) on 16 September 2006 09:58 PM

Domain names, without the 'www' or ext of '.org', '.com, '.edu', etc... can be 63 characters long using Numbers, Lower Case Letters and the dash character.

This would look like http://www.<name-can-be-up-to-63-characters-in-length>.com

It is generally recommended to have the shortest most memorable domain possible. Limit your use of dashes.
