You see an error message that states "Send test e-mail: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)."

STEPS to FIX

  1. Go back in to your Account and click on the "More Settings..."
  2. Click on the Outgoing Server
  3. Click the box that says "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
  4. Usually the option "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is already selected, if not, select it and try again.
  5. IF it is selected change the selection to "Log on using" and enter your User Name and Password and check the "Remember password" and test again.
